I love that some media outlets are blurring out the middle finger. It looks nothing like a human hand flipping the bird--it's amazing that a few glowing dots in a pattern have that kind of power to offend.

Yeah, that hacked me off too: the only one charged was the guy who hung the signs. God forbid they should put one of the suits in the slammer for a night. I, too, found it weird that they couldn't tell these weren't bombs. The bomb squad had to examine them and make a determination to blow one up, so they got a real good look at it. I really feel safe knowing the bombsquad can't tell the difference between battery operated LEDs and plastique. Nightline showed the unblurred version of the image while the Today Show blurred out the "obscene gesture"---has anyone done a tally of how many networks censored the image and who didn't?

It's amazing that no one in the media is wondering why the local authorities in Boston can't tell the difference between Bombs and lite Brite. Once the first few turned out to be nothing why let the whole city go into 9/11 mode. Now the hippy artist guy will be the scape goat. Typical.
